Budget Beauty | L.A. Girl Pro HD Concealer
Hello Dolls and Gents,
So, if anyone has
notice in many of my tutorials or face of the
days, I tend to stick with one concealer and this is the L.A. Girl HD
Pro Conceal. Many of you probably have heard of this concealer because every
YouTuber and their mama have been talking about this concealer. I have been using this concealer for over a year now and I have repurchase it many times and trying new
shades. I honestly have to say that this concealer is my holy grail concealer
and though I may try different concealer this will always be my ride or die
concealer. If you would like to learn more of my thoughts about this concealer
then just keep on reading.
I have to say that
the hype around these concealer are crazy. Everyone talks about them because
they are affordable and are comparable to high end concealer. I have fell into
the hype and joined the bandwagon of loving this concealer.
L.A. Girl HD Pro
Concealer is a crease-resistant opaque coverage in a creamy yet lightweight
texture. The long-wearing formula camouflages darkness under the eyes, redness
and skin imperfections. Provides complete, natural-looking coverage, even skin
tome, cover dark circles and minimizes fine lines around the eyes. This
blendable and buildable formula provides the ultimate, customizable coverage.
This must have concealer includes a soft brush tip for easy application. Source
There are 21 shades
and three colour correctors. The shades that I currently own are Toast, Espresso, Medium Beige, Dark Cocoa, and Mahogany.
I will do another
review on the Orange Corrector.
Packaging
The packaging of
this concealer can be improved on, however I really do not mind it. The
concealer comes with a brush tip for a easy application, which allows for you
to have control in using and spreading the concealer evenly on your face. The
only thing that really bothers me, if when you are almost done or not even
close to being done, it is sometimes difficult to squeeze the concealer tube,
but I usually manage to fit a way to get the concealer to work. Another reason, why the packaging may stuck
for some other, is that is not sanitary especially for makeup artists. I
recommend using a metal palette to squeeze the concealer on the palette for
your clients, but you can use tip for personally use if you want.
Formula, Consistency and Coverage
The formula of the
concealer is a gel like consistency and dries to a semi-matte finish . The
consistency of the concealer is creamy, which allows for a better application
is smooth, waterproof and blends out easily. The coverage of the concealer is a
medium coverage, but it buildable. Some
may say the the formula is dry for the skin, but it all depends on the skin
type that you have and you have to find a way for it to work for you.
Longevity and Creasing
The longevity of
this concealer is incredible. I did not any caking under the eye and it last
about 7-8 hours. I have combination/oily
skin and it still lasted 7-8 hours, obviously there was so fading. Now, for the creasing, L.A. Girl says that
this concealer is crease-resistant, I have to say that I agree with, but I can
crease if it is not set with a powder. Like any other concealer applied under
the eyes, we always set with a translucent powder to make sure it does not
crease.
Uses for Shades of Concealers
This concealer has
many different uses. It can be used as a foundation, cream highlight, cream
contour, and concealing. I find the
concealer does not dry to fast, so I have enough time to blend everything out
before it sets. The shades that I have are Dark Cocoa, Mahogany, Espresso,
Toast, and Medium Beige.
Medium Beige
Medium Beige was the
first L.A. Girl Concealer I got and I thought it would be the perfect highlight
shade for my skin, boy was I wrong. Now,
it just sits in the makeup drawer until
recently. I have found that if I mix Espresso and a bit of Medium Beige, I able
to get a shade that work for a more dramatic highlight, but as dramatic
highlight like Kim K, like I do not have time for that.
Toast
Toast is the perfect
everyday highlight shade for me for my NW50 skin. I feel that someone may
disagree, but I used Toast almost everyday for any look that I create. It just
blends beautifully into my skin and I love it.
Toast is a dark brown with neutral undertones. Fawn would also be the perfect shade to
highlight with, it is the dupe for NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Amande.
Espresso
Espresso is the
perfect concealer shade for me to shape my brows. I have been using Espresso to
shape my brows for almost a year and a half. Espresso is a brown with slight
golden/yellow undertones. It also makes for a very subtle highlight for NW50
skin, which is perfect for those no makeup makeup days.
Dark Cocoa
Dark Cocoa is the
perfect match to my NW50 skin to conceal any imperfection that I have on my
fast. It is a chocolate brown with slight red undertones. I have used this
colour as a foundation before and it looked amazing.
Mahogany
Mahogany is the
darkest shade in the concealer and it darker than my NW50 skin, but not do
dark. This concealer would be perfect for NW55 as a spot conceal to match your
skin tone. Anyways, I use this shade to contour, now you are thinking really,
you use this shade? Yes, I do. I have yet to master the perfect highlight and
contour routine for myself, but this shade allows to have the chisel cheekbones
without being to dramatic. I love this
shade to contour with, literally perfect for me.

Verdict
Overall, I frigging
love this concealer and I will continue to purchase it as long as I live. I
don’t think any other concealer can replace this for me. I may go try MAC Pro
Longwear Concealer, I hear this is a dupe for that, but I will always go back
to this concealer. This only suggestion I have for L.A. Girl is just to change
the packaging of the concealer, as for now, I am still use it and look pass the
packaging.
You can find these
concealer in Canada, at your local Beauty Supply Warehouse (BSW) for $1.99 or
$2.99. If you do not live in Canada or do not have one near you, you can get it
Drugstore, Beauty Joint, Lady Moss, and ikatehouse.
What is your favourite or go to concealer? What is your holy grail status concealer?

Thanks for this review, I had previously been using Espresso and Chestnut shades for highlighting etc. However I picked up Mahogany shade on Sunday at a Makeup fair. I am loving it, you are right, it's a perfect concealer for my NW55 skin color,i also used it to highlight my brows for that understated look. Love 😍 the new Mahogany shade.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you love the Mahogany shade. It is definitely perfect for your skin tone.
DeleteShould I be using a different concealer to conceal my brows from my dark spots?
ReplyDeleteYou do not have to use a different concealer to conceal your brows from your dark spot. What it does, it make your brows understated, meaning it look more natural. You can also use a lighter concealer under you eyebrow and one that you use for dark spots above your eyebrow as well. If you want to a standout brow, use a lighter concealer all area, but make sure you blend it well, so it is not noticeable.
DeleteThanks, love the blog by the way.
