Hi, Dolls and Gents

I'm 25 years old. I am a quarter of a century, halfway to 50. I turned 25 on March 3 and last weekend was my birthday dinner on March 7, which was Ghana Independence Day weekend. I went to an all you can eat buffet called Copacabana. Ultimate meats and grilled pineapples. I filmed my grwm process from beginning to end, from an egg to a queen of the night. So, let's begin.

Hey, Dolls and Gents

Today, I am bringing you my first hair review. I have never done this before on my blog. I got some bundles of hair from Aliexpress to make a new unit for myself. If you would like to know more then keep on reading and watching.

ORDER AND DELIVERY

I ordered the hair on March 30, 2019. I order from a vendor called Alot Hair and Beauty. I purchased a 14 inch frontal + 16 + 18 + 20. Well, I was purchasing this hair, Aliexpress was having a sale going on. I paid under $100 for a frontal and three bundles. I paid $82.67. The hair was delivered by  April 8, 2019. It took about a week to get here, which is not too bad coming from China to Toronto.

PROS

  • soft
  • no to little shedding - on the longest length
  • seems to true to length
  • manageable
  • seems to be full from root to tip
  • frontal seemed pre-plucked

CONS

  • smell - had to leave it in conditioner for hours to get of smell
  • lace frontal seems not to be full enough

ALOT HAIR BEAUTY STOREFRONT
PERUVIAN HAIR FRONTAL AND BUNDLES (THE ONE I PURCHASED)

The rest of my thoughts on the bundles and frontal are in the video down below.

UPDATE

I have been wearing the wig for the last three months. Here is my updated review down below.

Hi Dolls and Gents,

In today's post, I am going to be talking about my new hair do. You have noticed that my hair looks really different. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try something different.

The hair that I currently have in is crochet braids using the Urban Soft Dread from Freetress Equal. I usually always go for black or off black when I do my hair because I like to play it safe and it is easier for me. But, I wanted to do something bold and different, so I did this.

I needed a quick hairstyle to hold me over until September because my cousin's wedding is coming up and I didn't want to pay twice for my hair, so I decided that crotchet braids would be easier and cheaper for me to do.

HAIR SPECS

The hair that I used to get this look is the Freetress Equal Urban Soft Dread in 99J.
  • Light and Soft Touch
  • Easy to grab and dread
  • Non-flammable
  • Superior dread longevity
  • Odor Resistant
  • Unravel Resistant
  • No True Length
  • Can be worn in two styles: Dreads or Tight Curls

CROTCHET BRAIDS PROCESS

Finished Look with Snapchat filter

I braided my hair into cornrows. I braided about six to eight braids in the front with a side part and connected all to four big braids at the back of my head. I used 4 pack of hair and because I  was unravelling it I  knew that the curly hair would cover and I did not need to fill it up. It took about 2-3 hours to do. It took me a while to start and braid my hair in cornrows. My braids are not the neatest braids. After I finished installing the hair, I started to un ravel each dread to get the look I wanted.

MAINTAINING THE HAIR

I never do curly hair because I know I suck at maintaining it. For this hair do, I do use a water and conditioner. I use them both to untangled, separated, and add moisture to the hair because it starts to look dull. That is about it.

WILL I DO THIS STYLE AGAIN?

Yes, I would do this style again. The only thing I would do it get someone to braid my cornrows for me, so it will last a bit longer.

I  hope you enjoyed this quick mini review on the hair that I currently have. I hope you learned something. If you like to me to do more hair review, please comment down below, share and follow the blog.

Hi Dolls and Gents,

Today, I am bringing you a quick review on the Conair InfinitiPRO Diamond Brillance Shine System Ionic Straightening Brush. The Conair PR team reached out to try out two products of my choice. I chose this brush as well as a titanium straightener, which that review will be coming soon. Any products sent by a PR team to me, I make sure I am completely honest in my review or collaborations

This is the first ever straightening brush I have ever tried. I saw and I was like I need to try it out. This is the first time I have ever used this type of tool on my relaxed hair and I was kind of skeptical that it would actually work properly for me. To me, it seems to be marketed told women with sleek, curly, wavy or whatever hair type. It's definitely not marketed toward women of colour hair types.

I am the person who does not have a pattern to straightening my hair. I just start and I make sure I get every hair, but I don't part it or anything. Sometimes, it may take me a little longer if I don't have a good quality hair straightener.

Before I start to share my thoughts on this products, let me give a quick run down about the Conair Infiniti Pro Ionic Straightening Brush.

Quick Run Down on Conair Infiniti Pro

Conair Infiniti Pro

The plates are designed like a paddle brush to provide more contact with your hair for faster styling. The part that heats up is the diamond-infused ceramic that leaves your hair shiny, straight, and smooth. This brush also features ceramically coated bristles to protect your hair, nylon bristles to guide styler through hair for silky, smooth results and heat activated silicone bristles for advance control and shine. The combination of the nylon, silicone try and diamond ceramic bristles is to gently guide through hair for silky results and added shine. With all that, there is an ionic generator that creates negative ions that neutralizer the natural positive ion in the air, making your hair less frizzy by flattening and sealing the hair cuticle. It comes with three heat settings.

Contents in Package: Brush, Heating Pad, and Instruction (not included in picture)

Now, to my thoughts on this product.

My Thoughts and Results

Straighten side with Straightener brush

Unstraighten Side

Top view of my head

Okay, so the first thing that I have to point out is that this tool is so easy to use. I was shocked as to how easy it was. The directions to this were straightforward and easier to understand. Well, using it the brush I heard a lot of crackling, which freaked me out. After reading the directions I realized is was the generator that was making the crackling sound when it is turned on. I really like this brush for days where I don't have time to use a regular straightener. It really did straighten my hair really well. I tried this on my natural hair after I have relaxed my hair post about a week or two before. It went through my hair so nicely, which out tugging on my hair and it did add shine to my hair. I also saw that my hair straighten no matter the position of the brush. It allowed to go through my entire half of my hair without break it down into parts. it took me about 10 minutes or less to straighten my hair, no joke I was surprised that I finished so quickly. I would definitely recommend everyone trying this out. It is easy, fuss-free, straight forward product that anyone can use.

The Ionic Straightening Brush cost $69.97 at Walmart or any other retailer such as Shoppers Drug Mart, Bed Bath and Beyond and Amazon.

I hope you enjoyed this quick review on the Conair Ionic Straightening Brush and if you try it out or you have it, share your thoughts on it below. I will see you guys in the next post.

Hello Dolls and Gents,

So, you may have notice in a couple of my makeup tutorials, my hair is braided. Well, I'm in my most recent tutorial, my hair is in box braids.

Braiding my hair, is not always fun, but do it because it is the perfect protective hairstyle in the winter especially Canada's winter. I have been braiding my hair for years now, and I alter between braids and weave. Today, I thought I would share with my hair care routine before I take it out and do a new hairstyle.

There is a common misconception that if you have braids then you cannot take care of your natural hair. Well, that is a lie. You have to keep your  natural hair clean for your braids not to stink and up keep the perimeter of your face. The reason why your hair smell when you have braids in is because there is a build up of products and dirt in your hair.

I have never had a hair care routine, but did I use some of these products occasionally. All the products that I used I get for Beauty Supply Warehouse and Fortions.

To make sure my braided hair, is looking their best, I use these products to get my hair looking good.

  1. Olive Oil Shampoo
  2. Olive Oil Braid Sheen Spray
  3. Herbal Essence Dry Shampoo Body Envy Instant Clean
  4. Softsheen-Carson Sta•Sof•Fro Hair and Scalp Spray Comb out Conditioner with Lanolin
  5. Outre X-Pression 100% Kanekalon Hair in colour #1 (black) and #425 (red/black)

How I Upkeep My Braids

I have learned through trail and error that the best way to maintain my hair is just to focus in my scalp and not all my braids. I recommend not washing all your braids because your braids are not smelly, it is your scalp and if you do wash all your braids , it will take forever for it to dry and it will be heavy on your head.

1 | Olive Oil Shampoo

This is my go to shampoo. I use this shampoo to remove all the product built-up and dirt from my hair. What I do is , I take a spray bottle and I spar my scalp with water. Then I will add some of the shampoo. I will keep repeating these two until I feel my hair is clean. Then, I will take a towel and dry my scalp. The key to washing your scalp is not rubbing to hard, so it look messy after. Gently massage your scalp.

2 | Herbal Essence  Dry Shampoo Body Envy Instant Clean

I have recently started using this and I like it, so far. I use the dry shampoo after I washing my hair with shampoo. The reason why I do this is because I just want to make sure that my hair is clean as I can get it. One thing with the dry shampoo is that the powder is white, so I have to rub a towel in my hair to make sure all the white powder comes out of my hair.

3| Softsheen- Carson Sta•Sof•Fro Hair and Scalp Spray Comb out Conditioner with Lanolin

I use this spray in my scalp when it is itchy. I have dandruff in my hair, so this help keep it at bay and help with me not constantly scratching my head. I spray this in my hair to maintain the itches, but also keep my scalp moist and condition it as well.

4| Outre X-Pression 100% Kanekalon Hair in #1B and #425

After, I do all the above steps. I take out all the braids in the front of my face. Then I get my mom to re braid the front my hair for me again so it look neat in the front. The reason why I do this is because the braids in the front of hair, get pulled and messy the most, which make you want to take out your whole head of braids. Maintain the front allow you to keep your braids in a bit longer.

5| Olive Oil Braid Sheen Spray

I have been using this sheen spray for some many years now. I use it to add shine back to the dull looking braids. I essentially just spray all my braids to provide shine to the braids. This literally bring your braids back to life, it amazing. Everyone who braids their hair, swears by this products.

I do this routine every couple week to maintain my hair. I hope that is was helpful to some you, and the rest found this interested on how I maintain my braided hair.

Here are my go to braided hairstyles :
Twists

Box Braids
Curled Crotchet Braids
Straight Crotchet Braids

Hello Dolls and Gents,

Today, I am bringing you my first hair care/tools post. I am really excited to be talking to you guys about this brush. If you have not heard about this company, they are called The Knot Dr. and they have different brushes to help detangle your hair for kids, women, and men. If you would like to learn more about this brush, then just keep on reading.

The Pro Detangler

"The Knot Dr. Pro is a paddle brush boasting 212 bristles. This spread is impressive bristle count across the paddle allows for maximum coverage and creates an enjoyable detangling experience. The Pro brush has a sleek black, carbon boyd with a bright coloured pad and bristles tips" Source

The Pro Detangler and every other brushes has a "knotectomy". Now, you are wondering, what is "knotectomy" ? Well, it is precision knot surgery. In the past, such producers have been king and difficult to endure, and included the ripping and tearing of large clumps of matted hair; however, when performed by a professional, the Knotectomy is entirely painless. After years of dedicated research and experimenting, the Knot Dr. is ready to operate.

The Pro Detangler works on wet and dry hair. It is also durable heat-resistant design and it is excellent for all ages and hair types.

Okay, so I know the hype around expensive hair brushes. Everyone wants to know whether or not it is going to be worth the money. So, that what I am going to do, I am going to tell whether or not this brush is worth the money. This hair brush brand is not widely known, so this is an opportunity for me to give what I think about this brush.

You probably wondering, how did I tested this brush out. Well, right now I have my hair is braided, so I couldn't test it out on myself. I thought the next best thing, was to give it to my best friend and she will try it out for me. Then, I remember I have a wig that I made with synthetic and human hair. Synthetic hair and Human hair together gets really tangled and stiff after you have wore it for a couple hours.

This is the wig that I tried the Pro Detangler on. Now, the last time I used this wig was a couple months ago, so when I put it away , I didn't brush it out. That means, this wig was tangled and had a bit of knots in them. I compared the Pro Detangler to a regular hair brush that I got for Dollarama. Here is the results.

Pro Detangler vs. Dollarama Hair Brush

Dry Hair

Dollarama Brush : When I brushed out half my wig with the dollarama brush, I noticed that any tangles that was on that side, this brush kept stopping. So, the brush would tug on the hair while I was brushing it.

Pro Detangler : When I brushed out the other half of my wig, I immediately notice the brush right through the knots and tangled hair. I have to say I was surprised, I had gotten use to also stopping. The brush did not tugging the hair at all.

Wet Hair

Dollarama Brush : After, I washed the wig and dried it. I used the brush to detangle half of the wig and again the brush kept tugging on the knots. Making it more difficult to brush the hair with it wet.

Pro Detangler : I used the brush on the other half of my wig, and the brush did not tug on any of the knot and detangled the hair without pull. It was one quick brush

UPDATE!!!!! February 27th, 2016

I have tried this brush on my natural hair and I have to say that like it more then when I used it on my wig. After I shampoo and condition my hair, I used the brush to detangle. Now, my hair type right now is chemically treated or relaxed. So, after you shampooing and conditioning my hair after a relaxer, my hair always ends in knots. This brush went through my hair with ease. There was no pulling on my hair, which would have left my scalp sore. This brush truly works on different hair types, it definitely worked for me. My thoughts in the verdicts says the same.

More Photos...

Verdict

I recommend anyone who has thick, coarse hair or curly hair or tangled hair to try this brush company out. You can finally brush your hair, without the pain of a regular brush. What I love about this brush, it they it is a wet and regular brush combine together to make this hybrid. Not a lot of brushes do that, and if they do not if do not make brushing your hair painless. I recommend each of you, checking out the website and get one of this brushes. Now, if you are wondering about the price of this brush, well this brush cost $18.95, it is worth the money. Yes, this brush is definitely worth the money.

The Knot Dr. ships internationally and you get free shipping over $25 or you pay a flat shipping rate of $5.
