Budget Beauty | Go to Powder Foundation Routine

by - 5:00 PM

Hello Dolls and Gents,

So, I thought I would show you guys by go to powder foundation routine. I usually wear powder foundation or in this case pressed powder on the lazy days or when mother nature comes around. It also sometimes doubles as my everyday 'natural' look. I love this routine because it allows me to get the coverage I want and I do not have to put on too many face products.

My powder foundation routine consist of less then ten products I use to created this look. When I am wear powder foundation or pressed powder, it make sure I conceal, contour, highlight and colour correct before I started.

1 | Eyebrows

Annabelle Kohl Eyeliner in Coffee

NYC Eye/Brow Liner in Sable

My eyebrows must be filled and looking top notch. I can not go out without filling in my brows because I feeling it make a difference to my face without any makeup on. I usually go between two products which is ABH Dipbrow Pomade in Ebony or NYC Kohl Eye/Brow Liner in Sable and Annabelle Eyeliner in Coffee. In this case, I used the two pencils. Now, you are wondering, why to do use two pencils. Well, the NYC brow pencil is more of a cool tone brown-black and the Annabelle eyeliner pencil is a warm brown. I usually outline my brows with the Annabelle Coffee eyeliner and fill in with the NYC Brow Liner in Sable. I clean my brows up with the L.A. Girl Pro Conceal in Espresso and set my brows with Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara.

2 | Primer

MUFE Step 1 Skin Equalizer in Mattifying

I have to primer my face, life of an oily/combo skin girl. I prime my face with the Makeup Forever Step 1 Equalizer in Mattifying to control my oils. I usually prime my face before I do my brows, because I wanted to primer to stink into my  skin and when it does stink into my skin, it usually leave a white outline of where the primer was applied on my face.

3 | Colour Correct

L.A. Girl Pro Conceal in Orange Corrector

I colour correct my face even when I wear powder foundation or pressed powder because it allows the powder to cover my dark spots perfectly, which them showing through. I colour correct above my lips, chins, cheeks and inner corner of my eyes. This allows for my face to be even out, so the powder can go on top and look natural.

4 | Highlight and Contour

L.A. Girl Pro Conceal in Mahogany

L.A. Girl Pro Conceal in Toast
Now that I have colour corrected, I moved on to highlight and contour. I know everyone highlight and contour after they applied their foundation, I do that too, but when I wearing powder I do it before. Highlighting and Contouring before apply powder gives your the natural look. I do not apply a powder highlight and contour after I apply my powder because I love how it looks. I highlight under my eyes, bridge of my nose, middle of forehead, cupid's bow and chin with the L.A. Girl Pro Conceal in Toast. I contour my nose, temples, cheekbones, and jawline with L.A. Girl Pro Conceal in Mahogany.

5 | Powder Foundation or Pressed Powder

Now, that I have filled in my brows, primed my face, colour correct, highlight and contour. I now apply my powder foundation or pressed powder. Now, the powder I used is in every makeup tutorial that I have posted and that is the Ruby Kisses Mineral Face Powder in Cognac. I applied the powder with the Jessup Powder Brush, I usually pressed and buff the powder into my skin until I get the desired coverage I am looking for.

6 | Jordana Powder Blush in Cinnamon Spice

After, apply my powder foundation. I add some colour to my cheeks,so my face is not to dead. I apply a light layer of the Jordana blush in cinnamon spice onto my cheeks. This is the last face product I use to complete my routine.

After, I complete my powder foundation routine, I finish off my face with mascara and lip balm or lip colour.

Here is the complete routine :
