Hi, Dolls and Gents
So, I finally might find the next best thing for women of colour looking for blush, bronzers, and highlights. It was love at first sight, lies. I didn't even know this palette existed if it wasn't for one of my best friends.
I never really focused on the Sephora Collection face products because I tend to hear mixed reviews about their products. Now, was this palette everything, I wanted and more. Keep on scrolling down to find out.
Skin Type
Ok, so we know that I have combination skin. Meaning I have both normal/dry and oily parts. My oiliest zones are more nose, cheeks - my cheeks are half oily half dry, and forehead. My dry zones are chin, above my mouth, temples, jawline, and cheeks.
What is it
It is a pressed powder palette with six expertly coordinated shade for all skin tones. It contains six shades that will turn up the heat in this collection. The six blushes bring depth, warmth, and definition to the cheeks. These universally flattering colours in both shimmer and matte suit every skin tone from light to deep. The silky soft pigmentated formula blends seamlessly into your skin for a flush as subtle or fiery as your heart desires.
This palette retails for $35 CAD for 4.04 g of product. Each blush is 0.142 oz.
How I Use it
I used Mahogany Matte doubles as a bronzer, which as the right amount of warmth that is subtle for my skin tone. I use Burgundy, Orange Shimmer, and Mahogany Matte as a blush. I used White Gold and Golden Bronze as highlighters. I haven't really found a use for Copper Shimmer yet.
What I like and could be better
I love this packaging of this palette. It is simple. The top of the palette is clear so you can see all six shades. The outside is black and then the inside is gold bronze. The formula of the blushes is amazing. They are soft and blend out with ease. It doesn't look chalky on my face. What I also love is that all the shades in the palette work for my skin tone. I don't find that often. Anyone can use this, each person will have a different purpose for each colour. I also love it is buildable. I know that a lot of people would prefer that it has more pigmentation, but I love that it is buildable. I control the amount of blush I want to apply to my face.
I was not too sure about the White Gold shade but it looks beautiful on my skin. It is a transformer shade it really does transform. I use Mahogany every single day. Mahogany has become my go-to bronzer.
What Sephora can improve on for their face palette, in general, is place the names on the inside of the palette. It is easier than going to the website to find the names of the blushes or contour. I do not mind that there is no mirror in the palette.
