Budget Beauty | Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
Hello Dolls and Gents,
So, last year, if anyone call recall I did a massive affordable and high end makeup haul. It is the first haul I have done on my blog, but I purchase the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. Well, now I am going to be giving the review of this products. It has been a long time coming, and to be honest, I was use the beautyblender like crazy, then I switched over the brushes. So, I thought I would start using the RT Miracle Sponge, since everyone is now using and loving them. Everyone, has been say that this is the drugstore alternative to the beautyblender, which I did a review on already.
The Real Technique
Miracle Complexion Sponge is quite different from the beauty blender, but it
serves the same purpose.
According to Real Techniques:
This versatile beauty tool was designed with a revolutionary foam technology to evenly blend makeup for a smooth, enhanced finish. Use damp for a dewy glow or dry for a full coverage.
- rounded sides blend large areas of the face with a dabbing motion.
- precision tip covers blemishes and imperfections.
- flat edge for contouring around the eyes and nose.
- ideal for liquid foundation.
For best results, replace your makeup sponge every 1-3 months.
Packaging
The beauty sponge
comes in a plastic packaging and has Sam Chapman face on the back. It does not
provides instruction on how to use the product. If you have used a beauty
sponge, you know you have to wet it , wrung it out, dabbed into product and
then you stipple or bounce on your face.
Application
The technique to
using this miracle complexion sponge is the same as the beauty blender, which
is stipple or bounce on your face.
Size and Design
The sponge is meant
to be used wet or dry, but when wet is expands to about 50% of its size. The
design of the sponge really provides three functions.
- The rounded side can be used to cover large areas of the face and this provides a light coverage on the face. It is also perfect for cream blush .
- The flat side is perfect when you want a fuller coverage on the face, it is great for getting into the nooks and crannies of the face.
- The pointed end is perfect for apply concealer under the eyes , nose, and even setting the under eye. It is also perfect for contouring the face, adding cream bronzer and highlight under the eye.
Price
This beauty sponge
retails for $8.23 CAD/$6.00 USD and two retails for $15.07 CAD/$10.99 USD on
the Real Techniques site, which has worldwide shipping. I purchase mine at
Amazon US for $6.28.
Verdict
Overall, I enjoy the
RT Miracle Sponge, however it does soak up a lot of the foundation which means
I have to apply more foundation. However, there is a up side to that, for the
days that I do not want a full coverage and want a more light to medium coverage
this sponge is perfect for that. I really do not mind adding more products, but
it waste your foundation, which is not a great thing. This sponge is perfect
for blending out concealer that is thick and full coverage and also good for
baking. I would repurchase this for the
reason I listed, but for some this maybe a lost cause. Now, that it if the sponge is wet. I have not try the sponge dry to apply foundation, but if it is damp and soak up foundation, them it dry will provide more coverage. I will update this section, once I use the sponge dry a couple times.
Hope you enjoyed this review. Don't forget to comment, share and +1'd. Do you own the RT Miracle Complexion Sponge, if you do, what are your thoughts?
