Since the release of this concealer, everyone has been talking and raving about this concealer. Every YouTuber I watched, mention it in their videos and some of them love it and some of them hated it.
Today, I am going to give you my honest review about this concealer. Living in Canada, this concealer is not accessible in store. The only way us Canadian can get it is to over from the Tarte website. Let’s get into this review.
Details
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is $35 CAD/$27 USD. Comes in 20 shades. I used the shade 53N Deep, which is deep neutral shade.
Claims of Shape Tape
- Full coverage with a matte finish

- Easy to blend with a creamy formula, no flakes or creases
- Nourishes with mango seed and shea butter
- Helps illuminate skin for a lifted effect
Packaging
Tarte Shape Tape is in a plastic cylindrical tube. The wand is a large doe door applicator, which picks up a lot of product. The lid is a gold and purple chevron pattern. It comes with 10 mL (0.34 oz).
Opinion on Product
So, let’s started with the coverage. This concealer is full coverage, not a medium to full. For reference, this concealer has more coverage than my Maybelline Fit Me, L.A. Girl Pro Conceal and Maybelline Instant Age Rewind. When I apply Tarte Shape Tape under my eye, I applied the same way as any other concealer but I use a bit less product. The only about this concealer is that is no control on how much you apply. If you apply too much is look weird under the skin. You have to use the right amount to get the coverage that you need.
The Tarte Shape Tape is a thick and creamy formula. I was kind of throw off when I first used it because I had never used a formula this thick before. I thought it would be difficult to blend it out, which is kind of easy. It is easy to blend out but also kind of hard. This formula dries quickly, so you have to move fast when blending it out of you have the most difficult time. I used a damp beauty blender to blend it into my skin and it makes it looks really good under the eyes.
The finish of the concealer is a matte powder finish, which as first throws you off. But I actually like the finish of the concealer. I don’t find that it didn’t have a weird powdery finish under the eyes when I applied the right amount. When I over apply that when I do notice it. It does cover my dark circle really well. My dark circles are not too bad, to begin with. I can get away without setting my under the eye, but I do anyway because I have an oily t-zone.

I have worn this concealer on a regular day for about 15 hrs and it didn’t flake at all. It did crease in my fine lines after 12 hrs. I wasn’t bothered at all because it was a long time to be wearing the makeup.
Final Verdict
Overall, it is not a bad concealer. I would say that I have more of a love and hate relationship with this concealer. I can see how it been hyped for good reasons. The applicator does pick up a lot of product, so you have to make sure that you take some off. The finish of this concealer is a nice matte finish which does not need to be set down. It covers my dark circled perfect and the coverage is amazing on this concealer. I would say if you are still interested in trying out this concealer, go ahead, but you really do not have too.
