Hello, Dolls and Gents

Today, I will be reviewing the Jackie Aina Palette. I know that there has been a lot of drama lately and I will address some of it but also not give it the time of day because people seem to reach for the stars. But, first off, congrats to Jackie Aina for collaborating with Anatasia Beverly Hills and being the first black women to do so.

Alright, so I am not going to do a super long intro cause we are going to talk further into some stuff. So, let's get into it.

DETAILS

Created in collaboration with influencer Jackie Aina, this limited-edition palette feature, Jackie's must-have eyeshadows and pressed pigments for straight-up gorgeous looks. The unique, full-pigment formula is easy to blend and deliver high colour payoff and buildable intensity in both matte and metallic finishes. The 14 all-new shades allow you to create everything from cool to warm-toned neutral looks; daring, bright eye looks; shimmering, glam looks; and bold, smoky eyes.

PRICE

The palette retails for $60 CAD/ $45 USD for 0.392 oz.

The palette comes in a holographic croc style box as well as the packing of the palette. I really like how it looks and is as very different from what I have seen. Jackie's signature is on the palette as well as the box.

COMPARISON TO OTHER ABH PALETTES

Now, a lot of people have mentioned that is palette is similar to the other ABH Palette, so here is the comparison with the ones I own in my collection.

Now, you may see similar shades in the palette, but actually quite different.

CANNES (RIVERIA) AND BIG WIG (JACKIE AINA): Both of these shades are pressed pigments. but Cannes is a brighter purple than Big Wig, which a deep rich purple.

MONTE CARLO (RIVERIA) AND PINKER (JACKIE): Both these colour are part of the pink, but Pinker is a mid-tone cool tone pink with plum undertones and Monte Carlo is a mid-tone cool pink.

CYRUS UMBER (SOFT GLAM/MODERN RENAISSANCE), PALM (RIVERIA) AND CREDIT (JACKIE): All three of these browns, all have a different undertone. Cyrus Umber is a deeper dark brown. Palm is a deep chocolate brown. Credit is a deep brown is plum undertones.

SIENNA (SOFT GLAM) AND EDGES (JACKIE): Both of these shades play a different role in a makeup look. Sienna is more of a medium-toned red-brown that when applied seemingly look that why. Unlike Edges, which a is a deep peach brown with slightly red tones when I applied the shade is actually as a brown with peach and red undertones. But when applied is look like a red-brown shadow but it actually pulls more on the peach side.

PIGMENTATION AND PERFORMANCE

The pigmentation on this palette is amazing. Each one of the shades that I used blended out really well and performed really well. There are three pressed pigments, Big Wig, Pinkier and Supreme in this palette and I didn't use them, so I can not speak on it and how it blended out. Credit and Edges blended out with easy and did not get patchy as I was blending and also was build the colour up without any issues.

As for the metallics, I used Sponsored and Dwollahs. All I have to say is wow, these colours are crazy good. It was so easy to build the shimmer up. You do not need a base to make the colour pop because they do that on their own, but you can use a base if you want. The shades packed on well and stayed true to colour - there was some fallout but not a lot.

WORTH THE HYPE OR NAH?

This is definitely worth the hype. I know there is a lot of drama around the palette and I was going to talk about, but I personally did not want to give it energy. This palette is so different from the other palette that ABH has released and the shades all have different undertones. When I first saw this palette, I was going to get because of Jackie, but seeing it in person and swatching it made me excited to play with this palette. Also, after watching her video, it was it for me.
