Fenty Beauty by Rihanna | First Impressions of Collection

Hi Dolls and Gents,

Today, I am going to to be talking about the one of biggest beauty launch in 2017 and that is Fenty Beauty by Rihanna. We have heard all buzzed about this since it was announced and now everyone is getting their products and sharing their thoughts and experience with the products.

I had the chance to go into Sephora and take a lot at the entire collection and swatch every product and see if it would be something I would be interested in purchase in the future.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna launched in all Sephora Stores and let me tell you, Sephora is usually busy, but never in one area. Everyone was taking a look at Rihanna makeup line.

If you would like to hear my thoughts on Fenty Beauty first impressions, then just keep on reading.

Fenty Beauty ranges from $20 CAD to $67 CAD, which to me is not that crazy considering some of the other luxury brands in Sephora. Fenty Beauty released eight makeup products and six tools.

Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation -  $42 CAD

This is one of the foundations that Rihanna released in this collection. This is a liquid foundation and it claims that is a soft matte, long wear, medium to full coverage foundation for every shade. Now, let's talk about the shade selection. It is out of this world, there are 40 shades, that is a lot. Rihanna really made sure that every woman was included in the shade range.

The shade selection is out of this world. Rihanna actually killed it with the shade range. It is crazy how all the dark shades have sold out already. It crazy to think that company test out with light to medium shades and they test the waters to see if the products will sell well before they make darker shades. But Rihanna did not do that, just took and risk and it worked in her favour soo well. I am honestly so shocked about how finally there is a company that caters to women of colour and there is more than one shade for deep skin tone. I am the third darkest colour, which is 470 very deep skin tone with neutral undertone with subtle red tones. Another thing is that the foundation bottles are glass and are easily broken, so be careful. One of the Sephora Managers told me that a bottle of the foundation has broken every hour since opening. Either people are clumsy or the bottles are not that strong.

From swatching, I can see that it is a soft matte finish with long wear. I swatched it and let it dry on my hand and it was hard to remove with makeup remover, so the longevity is there. I got a sample of the foundation and I will try it out and let you know more of my thoughts.

UPDATE: It is rumoured that Rihanna is to release another 40 shades for deeper skin tones.

Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter

Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter - $42 CAD

This is a highlight is not for people who want more natural highlight. You can see this highlight for outer space. The pigmentation on this highlight is crazy. When I first looked at the highlight, I knew I would not like it because of the glitter in the highlight. After, swatching it totally changes how you look at the products. The products look glittery but it is the most smooth powder highlight. The formula of the highlight is a cream to powder finish with solos and duos. There are four duos and two solos. There is a highlight for every skin tone.

Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminzer

Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Lumizer - $23 CAD

This is an interesting gloss. There is one shade of gloss for every skin tone and at first, I was not about it. But swatching showed that this lip gloss is universal because it pulls differently on every skin tone.

Match Stix Trio

Match Stix Trio - $67 CAD

Rihanna released her own cream contour and highlight stix. These products are magnetized to each other, so you have the ability to mix and match what shades you like. The shade selection is limited. She released four shades and the deepest set is called Deep. I swatched the contour colour and it was too warm for my skin, perfect shade wrong undertone. Rihanna could have released one more contour set in the collection because the Deep set is not dark enough to contour people who are darker than. You get more product than the KKW Cream Contour Kit.

Pro Filt'r Instant Retouching Primer

Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Primer - $40 CAD

This primer is to mattify your skin, but also keep your skin hydrated. I can tell you the primer has a smooth filter to it. It fills in your pores and smoothes your fine lines, but it hydrates your skin. It is not like every other mattifying primer out there.

Invismatte Blotting Powder

Invismatte Blotting Powder - $40 CAD

This blotting powder is the perfect purse powder if you have combo to oily skin. This powder is matte and invisible. It is a smooth powder that does not leave a white are on your face, which allows your face to looks like you just apply foundation. You can use this powder to set your entire face and allow to do it magic during the day or night.

Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick

Match Stix Shinner Skinstick - $ 31 CAD

These match stix have the same consistency as the cream contour. The shimmer skinstick are to be used as a cream highlight, blush or bronzer for the face. It is a weightless formula and easy bendability. There are 10 universally flattering shades for every woman to create the look based on their mood of makeup.

Match Stix Matte Skinstick

Match Stix Matte Skinstick - $31 CAD

This is the only cream foundation in the collection. These Match Stix have the same formula as the contour and shimmer skinstick. It is a weightless and blendable formula that is easy to use. There are 20 shades. It can be used to contour, correct and highlight.

Overall, I do think that Fenty Beauty is an amazing brand. Rihanna made sure that every woman and man was included in the shade spectrum. Rihanna killed it on this beauty launch. Rihanna has changed the beauty game this year and now every company is now following suit and are starting to display their dark colours. It is rumoured that Rihanna is to create more shades for deeper skin tones, she is making sure she covers every skin tone in the world. This is in her mission statement for her band and she is sticking with it. For the startup brand, she did very well for herself and I hope to see what comes from Fenty Beauty in the future.
