Hi, Dolls and Gents

As you have noticed in the past few weeks, I have been posting videos instead of writing out my makeup look or anything else. I decided to start a YouTube Channel because I would be able to explain what I was doing a lot better and you will be able to visually see it. Plus, everyone in my life has told me to start on so why not.

I have been enjoying it so far, I spend my days filming and editing. It is really different to blogging because I would do my makeup for fun or take photos and then just write about it and post it when it was done. I am still learning how to editing and everything as a new YouTuber. I am excited to see where it goes and how well I do. I know on here, I was consistent in the beginning as time went I started to post less frequently so I am trying to stick with a schedule in which I can do and allow me to still have time to edit.

My schedule for posting for both YouTube and here is once a week, which I think is perfect as I can be able to post good content on both ends and still have time to test products out for you guys.

Alright, I will answer some questions that you might be thinking if you want to start a channel.

Q: What do you use to film your videos?

A: I use my iPhone 8 to film my videos that you see. It is a great way to start a channel and then build up to getting a good DSLR camera. I was scared to start a channel because the quality of the videos nowadays is high quality. I film using my back camera, but recently I have started with the front camera and it has allowed me to focus more on the camera and lighting as well. It is a personal choice.  I  connect my phone on my MAC Air to use QuickTime Movie Player and click new Movie Recording and switch camera view from FaceTime HD to iPhone camera to act as my viewfinder or monitor of how it looks like on camera.

Q: What lighting to you use to film your videos and quality?

A: The lighting is used to film my video is NEEWER 18 INCH DIMMABLE 5500 K FLUORESCENT STAND KIT. I was using natural light before and it is the best light out there.  But it is easier for me to use a ring light, I sit in front of my vanity in my bedroom and film there. I am planning to buy some softboxes to help control the lighting. Though daylight is a great source, it can be inconsistent so sometimes artificial lighting is the way to go. When I get the lighting and film setup done, I will film it and post it here on my blog as well for beginners to YouTube. The quality I use to film is either 720p or 1080p. The iPhone 8 can allow me to film in 4K as well but it takes up more space on my phone.

Q: What do you use to edit your video, thumbnails both YouTube and Blog, and what about storage?

A: What I use to edit my videos right now its the basic editing app on every MAC laptop and that is the iMovie. It is a great app to start out editing with because it is easier to understand and then you can invest in Final Cut Pro in the future. Start out with what you have and you can learn some cool tricks and tips on how to make iMovie almost look super professional. I use Canva to create my thumbnails and blog post images. I have been using it for about over a year and I love it. For storage, I got more storage on my iPhone, I currently have 50G on my phone. For my MAC Air, I have two USB storage, one is 64 GB and the other is 32 GB. This how allowed me to free up a lot of space on storage on MAC as I have 121.2 GB and most of is system stuff. This makes it a lot easier for me to store my videos. Once I am done editing and I have my final copy, I post on YouTube and save a copy to my USB and delete the movie from iMovie.

I hope this answer some of the questions you need to start out your channel. I hope you enjoyed this and please subscribe to my channel to see the latest content. I will see you guys in my next post which is a makeup tutorial.

xoxo,

Maame
