Battle of the Setting Sprays | Urban Decay De-Slick vs. NYX Matte Setting Spray

Hi Dolls and Gents,

If you have been a longtime reader of my blog, you would know that I am a combination-oily skin gal. You also know that I always on a hunt for the products that will make a difference in my skin and the wear of my makeup.

Today, I am bringing you a battle of setting sprays URBAN DECAY VS. NYX MATTE. I had the opportunity last year to try out each of the setting sprays and come to conclusion on which I like or prefer. If you like to know my thoughts, then keep on reading.

I got the Urban Decay Deslick Setting Spray as a birthday gift or graduation for my best friends because I am always talking about it. My cousin girlfriend who did my make for my graduation used the NYX Matte Setting Spray. Everyone knows about these two setting sprays and I wanted to try them both out.

UD Deslick vs. NYX Matte

Anyways, the Urban Decay Deslick Makeup Setting Spray "mist a weightlessly to make your makeup stay put as it controls oils, deflects surface shine and keeps skin looking beautifully matte" - Source: Urban Decay

The NYX Matte Long Lasting Spray "Demand Perfection! For that fresh face look that lasts NYX Makeup Setting Spray are lightweight and comfortable while working hard to make sure your makeup stay put." - Source : NYX

Now, the most obvious thing that is noticeable is the size and price of the setting spray. The UD Deslick is 4 fl oz (118 mL) for $39 CAD and the NYX is 2.03 fl oz (60 mL) for $10 CAD. You can basically get almost half of the product for less.

UD De-slick Makeup Setting Spray

I've gotten the UD Deslick a birthday or grad gift ( I can't remember) and I have always wanted to try it out and see what it really does. There has been a lot people that rave about this product, and I want to see what it could do. Well, for my experience, I find that is work best if I spray it before and after makeup application.  Now, you are wondering why? It is recommend to spray after makeup application, but watching reviews on YouTube, a lot of oily/combination skin gals, suggest for better wear of makeup to spray prior. I totally agree with them on them. I found that my oil is better controlled when I spray prior makeup application. After, I spray prior I wait for it to dry and I prime my face to ensure the my makeup last all day. The mist of the spray is microfine. It does not spray directly into the face and it has a smell, which I can't describe, but it not too bad. My only problem with this spray is to does not really control my oil when I spray it before and after makeup application. My t-zone get oily after a hour and it is annoying. I also find if I am wearing makeup for my than 8 hrs, my makeup starts to break apart in my t-zone. Other than it is a good setting spray. Maybe I just need good primers and skincare to help with my oily t-zone.

NYX Matte Long Lasting Setting Spray

I bought the NYX Matte spray halfway through last year. There is a lot of mixed reviews on this products, some love it and some hate it. Well, for my experience, I found that is help my makeup last, but not a long period time. The fact that is cheaper than the UD makes it appealing only. The NYX matte does not claim to be oil control and it is definitely not oil control at all. I find that it makes makeup last all day. The true test for me was the day of my graduation. My cousin girlfriend applied my makeup at 5 AM and my makeup last on my entire face, except my oily nose until 6 or 7 pm.

I honestly like both of setting sprays. I use them interchangeable and together on some days. I personally prefer the UD Deslick, but I also enjoy the wear of the NYX Matte.

I hope you enjoyed this battle of setting sprays. I am thinking about doing a post about false lashes for different eye shapes. If you like to see that comment down below. I will see you in my next post.
