Today, I am bringing you a foundation review one of the most talked about the foundation that was released last year and that is the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation.

When this foundation was released last year, I was excited to try it out. I go to find my shade and get a sample, long and behold my shade does not exist. So, I passed on it.

It is not until Jackie Ania talked about working with Too Faced to created darker shades for this foundation, which will be released next year. Too Faced released two new shades before the release the shades collaborated with Jackie. I got a sample of the shade in Cocoa.

Details

Okay, let's get into the details of this Born This Way Foundation is an oil-free, fragrance-free that contains coconut water, alpine rose and hyaluronic acid. It is a medium to full coverage.

This foundation retails for $49 CAD/$39 US for 1 fl oz.

Experience

Now, let's get into my experience. First, I have to say that the consistency of this foundation and the finish reminds me of Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. That alone turns me off from this foundation. Just to let you know, I have dark-deep skin (MAC NW50-55), with red undertones. I have combination skin - I get really oily in my tzone, especially my nose, sides of nose and forehead. I got a sample of the shade Cocoa (deepest w/neutral undertones). FYI, this is the darkest shade. The match was perfect for me. It didn't look too neutral on me.




On my first application, I used my Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer without setting my primer with translucent powder.The consistency isn't thick but it's creamy. It is not runny at all. I applied the foundation with a flat foundation brush and blended it out with my beauty blender. It blended easily, but it was not a natural looking as it claimed. It was a natural finish, but you tell you had foundation on. I applied about what is maybe equivalent to three pumps, so I got a medium but almost full coverage. The coverage was good, it covered all my imperfections. It did not blur my pores or settle into my fine lines and laugh lines. It felt lightweight on the face, it doesn't feel like your wearing foundation. I finished my application with setting with my Black Opal True Color Loose Powder as I always do. It left a tacky finish that was not transfer-proof. 


After nine to ten hours of wear, my face was an oily mess. The foundation had broken up on my nose and separated. It didn't emphasize any dry patches on my skin. The foundation of the rest of my face actually said the same. There was not fading at all. I actually blotted around the five-hour mark, while I was at work.

Final Verdict

I would have to say that I would pass on this foundation. Though I don't hate the wear of the foundation is not that long. If I start to get oily around the four or five mark that means the foundation is not a good match for me or it is meant to wear for a short period of time. This foundation is perfect for normal to dry skin, though is marketed to combination skins, you have to be combo is the least amount of oil production in your t-zone. My oily skin people, stay clear of this foundation.
