Hi, Dolls and Gents

Here is my next foundation review. Today, we are going to be reviewing the Cover Fx Power Play Foundation. CoverFX releases this foundation almost a month ago and I have some good thing about it.

As you guys may have picked up for my last foundation review, I am happy to try out so many new foundations because companies are finally extending their foundation range, both pale and dark. I have so many choices of foundation now and I am excited. But, COVERFX has always released 40 shades. All of their complexion products have over 20 shades.

If you would like to hear my thoughts about the CoverFX Power Play Foundation and if it worth your money, then please keep on reading.

Overview

The Cover FX Power Play Foundation is a modern matte full coverage foundation that is weightless, long-lasting shine control, environmental protection and will not oxizide. It is also a transfer-proof, sweat-proof, and waterproof formula that contain three ultrafine powders to help with mattifying without feeling dry. It also long-wear foundation.

CoverFX Power Play Foundation is $52 CAD/35 mL, which is more than the standard amount. There are 40 shades, and mine N120, darkest shade in the Neutral section and three darkest overall.

The packaging of this foundation is super minimalistic. It comes in a rectangular squeezy bottle with a chrome cap to twist open and close.

To find your shade in the CoverFX foundation, you must find your undertone and the depth of your skin tone.

Find your Undertone
N= Neutral (equal parts of pink and golden)
G= Golden (yellow, warmer hue)
P = Pink (rosy, cooler hue)
G+ = Golden Olive (warmer and olive than G undertones)

Find your Shade Range
0-20 = Fair
25-40 = Light
50-60 = Medium
70-85 = Medium Deep
90-100 = Deeo
110-125 = Extra Deep

Formula

The formula of this foundation is much more watery than the Natural Finish Foundation. It is has a creamy, not runny consistency. This foundation is a medium to buildable coverage foundation. It blends out effortlessly and it feels lightweight on the skin. It did not cling to any dry patches on the face. The foundation has a skin-like finish. It doesn't look like you are wearing foundation. It also has some blurring properties, it blurred out my pores a bit.

Application, Shade Selection and Wear

When I first applied this foundation, I thought I got the wrong shade. Cover FX says that shade selection is the same for every foundation, so you should be the same shade in every foundation no matter the formula. When I blended out the foundation, it actually matched my chest really well, I was shocked because I thought that it was going to be too dark. Going into Sephora, I swatched N110, which is the shade I matched to in every other CoverFX foundation and it looked a little too light for me.

For the application of this foundation, I used both beauty blender and buffing brush and I have no a preferred way of applying this foundation. I always noticed that you need a bit foundation to get medium coverage. I got a sample of this foundation, so I can't tell you exactly how many pumps I used, but I would say about two pumps. I did not find it difficult to blend. It did not set fast, so I had enough time to blend my face well. The finish of the foundation is a powder finish, you actually do not need to set your face. I did not that, I just set my t-zone and under eyes.

I applied this foundation at 8:15 AM in the morning before going to work and took it off at 11:15 pm, I got 16 hrs of wear of this foundation. I have combination skin, so when my oils break through and break down foundation no matter what. I only blotted once in the whole day and that was around 2 pm. After I blotted, I didn't blot again until I took off my makeup. Now, you can't get 16hrs wear of this foundation. This foundation isn't made for no more than 8 hrs of wear. It is not a long-lasting foundation. I haven' tested out for the sweatproof or waterproof aspect of this foundation.

When the oils did come through, it did not break down my foundation. Again, like the NARS and Fenty, my oils just sat on top of the foundation. As I was wearing it for 16 hrs, it did not transfer until my oils came through. What noticed when I was taking off my makeup at the end of the night was my oily t-zone was somewhat a small area. The foundation creates an area for all my oils, I could literally trace it with my fingers. The foundation did not feel heavy on my face, it felt the same from when I applied the foundation in the morning.

Shade Comparison

Final Verdict

Overall, I do like this foundation. I could see myself purchasing this foundation. This foundation is not long-wearing. You can get about 8 hrs of wear which is not too bad. It wears as a natural matte foundation, so your skin does not like to dry. I would recommend this foundation for all skin types. It did not fade or look patchy on my skin. This is a good match for me.
