Is This Worth the Hype? | Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer Review

by - 11:40 PM

Hi, Dolls and Gents

So, it is not a secret that everyone loves the Tarte Shape Tape with the full coverage, no creases and the applicator. When I saw everyone talking about this Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer, I was interested in seeing it in person and wondering if it is similar to the Tarte Shape Tape.

When I went to New York and saw it in Ulta, I knew I had to try it out and if it was a dupe for Shape Tape. I got my hands on both concealers. I will be doing a comparison post of the two concealers. I wanted to post about each of them individually so I would be fair.

Let's get on with the review.

What it is and Claims

Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Full Coverage Conceal and Contour Concealer (shorter name, please, too long, jeez). It retails for $7 for 0.11 oz and available 18 shades. it is cruelty-free and vegan.

It claims to be:
  • Lightweight yet full coverage with a smooth application that can cover blemishes and dark circles and can even contour
  • Matte finish with long-wearing power that will not settle and  accentuate fine lines and pores

Packaging

This concealer comes in a small clear tube with a rose gold top. This packaging is classic, chic and looks expensive. This concealer also has a large doe-foot applicator. However, it is not as large as the Tarte Shape. It is a pretty decent size.

Shades

This concealer comes in 18 shades. I only picked up one shade because of the lack of testers for the other shades. I tend to get concealers to highlight with a golden undertone because my foundation can be more on the cool side. I feel like it balances out the overall colour of my face.

The shade I use C13, which is for dark skin tones with a warm undertone.

Here are the swatches of the concealers
Once, I applied the concealer to my face, I find that the concealer oxidizes about half a shade up. This doesn't really bother me, but knowing this I could get away with C12.

Formula, Application and Coverage

This concealer applies smoothly to the skin. It does not tug on the skin at all. This is not a full coverage concealer, it is more on the medium to buildable coverage on the coverage spectrum. I didn't find that this concealer dried down fast, I had enough time to apply it to the entire face and blend it out. It did also cover my dark circle pretty well. I blended out this concealer with my beauty blender, but I have also tried a brush and it looks good as well.

Longevity and Wear

This concealer has a good lasting power on it. I have worn it up to 15 hrs. I didn't find that it creased after a long wear period. It did settle into my fine lines under my eyes, which always happen. It does dry down to a matte finish, you can get away without setting it, but I always set my concealer.

Final Verdict

I really enjoy this concealer. I love the coverage and the shade of this concealer. It doesn't feel drying under the eyes. It is lightweight and long wearing. I would for sure repurchase this concealer in C13 and C12. This is my first time trying out Makeup Revolution, I am impressed. I would recommend this concealer to anyone, I got three of my friends to buy this concealer without testing out myself.
