Hello Dolls and Gents,
A couple days ago, I discussed face shapes because face shapes matters when apply your face make-up. But now, I will discussing eye shapes and how your eye shape helps when applying eye shadows and even choosing the right false lashes. So lets begin:
There are 9 different eye shapes
- Wide Set Eyes
- Down Turned Eyes
- Close Set Eyes
- Almond Eyes
- Upturned Eyes
- Protruding/Prominent Eyes
- Hooded Eyes
- Deep Set Eyes
- Monolids
Wide Set Eyes
If you have wide set eyes, than your eyes are more than "one eyeball width".
TIP: to bring your eyes closer together, line the "rim of your top and bottom lash line with a black liner as close to the inner tear duct as possible. Do not create a heavy liner all over the lid, instead start with a thin line and use a mascara comb to swipe all of your tiny lashes from mid eye to nose.
Down Turned Eyes
If you have down turned eyes, you have a slight dropping on the outer corner. But hey, you have the perfect eye shape for creating a cat's eye.
TIP: When creating a "cat's eye" use liquid eyeliner to create a thick, bold line and pull outward. When extending the line to the outer corner of the eye, shift you loner at a 45 degree angle to create the perfect "cat's eye"
Close Set Eyes
If you have close set eyes, your eyes are less than "one eyeball width apart"
TIP: To create an illusion of more space, simply use a light shimmer eye shadow on the inner corners. This will catch the light, making your eyes look bigger and farther apart. Also, apply multiple layers of mascara on the outer lashes and lightly on lasher closer to the inner eye
Upturned Eyes
If you have upturned eyes, your eyes take a form of classic almond shape with a natural lift at the outer corner.
TIP: The lower lid has more emphasis and look longer than the top lids, so to even it out the upper and lower proportions, apply dark shadow or pencil along the outer lower corner to bring down the lifted affect
Protruding/Prominent Eyes
If you have protruding/prominent eyes, your eyes create the appearance of projected lids in the eye socket area. But you get plenty of space on the lid to play with.
TIP: To keep the lid from overpowering your look, blend darker shadows all your eyes because the dark tones will recede space and size, and smokey eyes work great with this eye shape. Apply thick liner along your upper lash line to diminish some of the space.
Hooded Eyes
If you have hooded eyelids, you have an extra layer of skin that droop over the crease,causing the lid to appear smaller.
TIP: To draw focus upward, diffuse a darker shadow over and out past the crease. Tightline the top waterline to intensify and enlarge your eye shape and thicken your lash base, which can also disappear under the lid fold
Deep Set Eyes
If you have deep set eyes, your eyes are larger and set deeper into the skull which creates an illusion of a more prominent brow bone.
TIP: Brighten up with natural shadowing by dusting a beige or warm metallic shadow on the lid and highlight your arches with an illuminating crayon because the ends of your lashes are likely to graze your lids
Monolids
If you have monolids, your eyes are a flat surface and don't have much of a crease, if any.
TIP: Create definition and an illusion of dimension on your flat surface with a gradient of eyeshadows, dark to light. Shade the darkest color closest to the lash line , the soft neutral shadow in the middle and the shiny shadow a the brow bone. By the way, always curl lashes for a lift
Almond Eyes
If you have almond eyes, your eye is shaped like almonds and your iris disappears under your lids.
TIP: When it comes to jet black liner avoid putting on your lower lash line, if you put liner on your waterline that is fine, but avoid lower lash line because this will make your eyes look much smaller
